Afan Nedd Achers were delighted to host for the second year running UKIFAC with our stunning views and Championship Courses similar to European and World IFAA courses in Europe . The sun shone on Day 1 Check registration we had a 100 archers come try out our new Practise area from 20 to 60 yards. And clubhouse practice area for 15 and bunny we had bases covered.
Check in by our own club members Helen and Tammi a warm welcome with exclusive WFAA goodie bags with personalised pen , Wagon Wheel biscuit made in Wales and Sponsered by Brecon Water organised by our own Mike Kelly Records Officer. We had archers booked in from all the 5 countries making up United Kingdom and Ireland .Courses were ready 3 levels of amazing views and all with individual challenges. We had all the age groups Cubs , Juniors , Adults , Veteran and. Senior Saturday morning everyone checked in off our archers set off.
Weather was wonderful and sunny with a cool breeze ( Note to keep not only skin so soft and fly repellent but to add sunscreen ) Including myself Sandra Anderson President and Senior Coach had the red face and white owl eyes where my sunglasses had been .
Super catering by Donna and Steve her husband with welcome 99 s went down a treat.
Most of the archers were off by 4.30 when the rain decided to join in. One hour rain was our only rain the weekend.
Campers had first dibs to the Popular Shop by Bella and Mike Cullen. They are now bust trying to replenish stock for the NFAS Champs. We do love their rakes and tassels being Longbow and Flatbow archer I do have the occasional arrow fall out my quiver and get dirty
Day 2 same again low cloud early morning sun to follow those 99s were very popular. One of our archers was telling us he worked for Cadbury "99 s got their names as they were the 99 th product. Good information for a PUB quiz
Archers loved the challenges which we assured them if they enjoyed our courses then they should enter Europeans in Switzerland , Italy , Austria as what we have to offer is very similar
We had an exciting shoot off with Trad bows organised by the fabulous Oli Skuse with over a 100 archers watching an arrow by arrow challenge the same score two archers had a winner.
Our club member Dale Wallace entertained us with the Bag pipes playing a mixture of music including Highland Cathedral my request and favourite he came 4th in the Championship and is working towards Gold in Germany 2027.
Shooting finished we were delighted to have Steve Kendrick Vice President of the IFAA come along to be our Paramount . He did a wonderful job along with WFAA President Theresa Goodwin -Harrison
The Country Team Challenge was won by Scotland , Ireland 2nd , England 3rd
We handed over the Championship to Ireland for 2027 looking forward to going there next year.
We have had fabulous feedback from everyone and if we win the Bid to host in another 5 years we will see you again on our grounds that we love with a bit of a bumpy road to get there
